Finding a Guitar Tutor

For those looking to learn to play the guitar, finding a guitar tutor can be the first logical step towards accomplishing that goal. Problematically, there are a large number of tutors and so-called experts out there willing to show you how best to go about it. Looking for a guitar tutor is often underestimated, and is perhaps the most important decision you will have to make since deciding to learn. The tutor you select will shape your entire outlook on how to play guitar as your primary contact with the discipline, therefore it is important to ensure you choose wisely to improve your enjoyment and dedication to playing the guitar.

Finding a good guitar teacher isn't an easy task. For the most part, selecting a tutor is a blind process relying on gut instinct and marketing. A great way to circumvent this is to ask a friend or a family member for a recommendation. If you know someone that has had guitar lessons, ask them who taught them and get a contact number. That way, you can help bypass the element of chance and find a tutor that is skilled and good to work with. Alternatively, if you know someone that does play guitar, asking them for assistance in learning might be a good idea. That way, you can work with a friend, which might also be a low cost alternative, as well as a guarantee of a good learning environment. Obviously it may be wise to check out your friend's credentials beforehand, but if you know they can play well, there is a fair chance they'll make a good teacher, and the fact that you are already acquainted with them will bypass the initial awkwardness associated with working with a complete stranger.

An indication of a good guitar teacher can be found with experience. When contacting tutors, ask how long they've been teaching guitar for. If the answer is a number of years, chances are they're good at it, because if they have continued to do the job for a number of years, they would only survive if competent. Because a lot of a guitar tutor's business comes from word of mouth referrals, tutors with several years of experience are very likely to be able to competently guide you through the learning process. Another good indicator of tutor quality is the number of qualifications recognised in you local area. If your tutor has a degree in music, or is an experienced performer, you can pretty much guarantee they will be skilled enough to offer good advice, and this will help you on your way to learning guitar successfully.

Finding a good guitar tutor is fundamental to learning to play the guitar, and to say the tutor affects your ability to learn is an understatement. It is essential that you make a wise selection in picking your tutor, and there are various ways in which you can filter the masses to find the most suited guitar tutor to your needs, whether at beginner, intermediate or advanced level.

It's just a summary... I haven't revised it yet. CRITIQUE IT? -- I filed for emancipation by the time I turned fifteen. My parents signed it happily. They were separated. They hated me. I was a mistake to them; a burden. I worked my butt of by having two jobs. One, as a nanny. I earned three hundred dollars a week and lived at the Kessler's -- my employers -- guest house. Free meals, a car, and my school fees were covered by them. I considered them family. They considered me 'the daughter they never had'. My second job was a guitar tutor, every Saturday and Sunday weekend. In two days of the weekend, I earn two to three hundred dollars. It wasn't bad. It all went to my bank account. I never had to pay for anything. I went to school with rich, snotty adolescents, worked for prissy bratty kids for two years and earned a mere one hundred thousand dollars. It was RIDICULOUS! I bet I earned more money than my bastard lazy parents. I was ready to leave and have a serious job, go to a community college or even go to NYU. I always wanted to go to New York City. Maybe live with my one-year boyfriend, Nicholas. Until he decided he wasn't interested in me anymore. I first got my heart broken at the age of seventeen. I decided to put my dreams on hold and stay with the Kessler's. They wanted to adopt me. But I wasn't ready to have another family. More like I didn't want a family. I wanted to create and build my own. -- What do you think? ALSO WHAT DO YOU THINK I SHOULD NAME MY MAIN CHARACTER? She's a girl obviously.

What song is easier to play on guitar?
I'm a beginner but I've been playing since like November, so umm, I kinda suck. My guitar tutor said I can bring any song I want to learn to our next lesson and he'll try to teach me.. These are my choices: 1. La La Land by Demi Lovato 2. Daughters by John Mayer 3. Bubbly by Colbie Caillat 4. I'm yours by The Script 5. Anything by Taylor Swift (the song isn't called anything, I mean any song by her :P ) 6. The Only Exception by Paramore 7. Ready, set, don't go by Billy Ray Cyrus and Miley Cyrus 8. When you're gone or Keep holding on by Avril Lavigne So which of these is the easiest to learn? Thanks in advance! :D

Sick of my parents not controlling my crazy 9 year old sister?
my parents let her do anything she wants, all she has to do is cry, scream and stamp her feet. this isnt about me being jealous of her, i'm 14 and very mature compared to my peers. i am forced to teach my sister how to play the guitar alongside her guitar tutor, he has given her a simple version of yellow submarine with 4 chords, G C A7 and D. I can play the full version properly but i'm smart enough not to tell her that the version she is learning is the simple version and sounds nothing like the original song. she is so stubborn that she won't admit that she cannot play the song and needs help, i am more than willing to help her because i love her and have passion for music. i explained to her that we will start off playing it slowly and then speed up and eventually sing along with it, she refused to play it slowly so i asked her if she already knew the song, she screamed yes. so i asked her to play it to me at full speed, she played it with lots of mistakes and not holding each chords for the correct amount of beats. of course i did not tell her that, i praised her and tried to explain that she should try playing it different way. (i think that just made her even more determined that she was correct) it basically ended up with her crying /screaming and slamming the door out of my room. my parents immediately sucked up to her crying act even though there were no tears in her eyes. they genuinely shouted at me and didnt wait for an apology or explanation from me. bad parenting much(?) another example: we were in the home improvement store buying light switches or something. she sees the paint section and runs there, picks a dark blue shade of radiator paint and screams that she wants this paint in her room. her room was painted about a month ago, yet my parents suck up to her and try to convince her that this is radiator paint and you need emulsion for the walls. even though re painting her room is out of the question my parents still negotiate with her!!! we end up buying the correct blue paint. we go home, she screams because she wants to paint her room now. my dad reasons with her and manages to negotiate a later date. an hour later, she screams, my dad paints her room. now i'm 14 and i can understand that if you tell a child that you will do something for them next week and you do it an hour later, you will make them cocky and next time they will know that they can get you to do anything by screaming and stamping their feet. i'm more annoyed with my parents than my sister because they are letting her spiral into this mess. what can i do to convince them and my sister that they need to change their ways. Btw, she is having behaviour problems at school, she has trouble eating so she is underweight, AND she has sleeping problems as she refuses to sleep without my mother sitting next to her. I blame all of this on my parents. I mean cmon, what 9 year old kid cant get to sleep by themselves? I'm asking this here because i love her so much, i cant just sit back and do nothing, but then i cant be rude and try to teach my own parents how to bring us up.
