5 Ways to Make the Right Pick for Your Guitar Lessons

If you are looking forward to take up guitar lessons, the first and foremost thing that you need to check for is how serious you are about that and would you want a private tuition or on online training for the lessons. With the intervention of internet and the high pace of life that we live – internet lessons is a wise option.

Once you have decided that you shall be looking out for guitar lessons online, the next step is to look for the best possible site that you help you learn. You would find a laundry list of websites offering the guitar lessons. A little research before you zero down to one is indispensable. Certain pointers mentioned below would help you reach the right one –

  1. Look out for sites that are flexible enough to offer personalized guitar lessons. Personalization here means that these sites should be able to gauge the level of you playing and the lessons should be provided accordingly. There is no fun starting from the beginner's level when you are intermediate on the learning curve.
  2. The kind of tools that a site offers that could help you learn better is also critical to making a decision while picking a website as your guide to guitar lessons. There could be software, many kinds or recording & play back tools, digital guitar tunes specimen etc that shall make the learning experience better and richer. These aids not only would help you understand better but would help you as eyes in the black waters you are about to enter.
  3. See if you have online teacher support. You might be stuck with a question of a note and there is no one to answer that. Hence, never go for a site that has no online teacher support.
  4. Look out the kind of variety of music that the site claims to be exposed to. More the better as then you would be able to gain quite a lot form the versatility the site would have.
  5. Once depending upon the four points mentioned above you have short-listed the sites. Take free trails from all to get a final touch and feel. Remember, the site that doesn't offer one such trial is not worth considering.

Need some guidance! *College.?
So here is the plan... Graduate high school, spend the next year at some college or public university, apply and hopefully get accepted to Berklee. So here's the deal, I've narrowed my choices down to Paris Junior College (wont cost me anything) or The University of Texas at Tyler (would cost me a bit, 6000 or less). If i go to PJC, ill have to take private guitar lessons to refine my skills (been playing for 7 obsessive years), but if i go to UT Tyler, i can take classes in their Music Program. My question is, "Is the UT Tyler Music program worth the $6000 student loan, OR should i just go to the community college and bank off of them while i take private lessons?"

My Dad never supports my dreams...?
Every time I tell him I want to start having Guitar Lessons and become a Home Radio DJ over the Summer Holidays he says I need to "Stop messing around and get a Summer Job" but I don't want a crappy Summer Job in No-where's-ville-Garforth I want to share my thoughts and beliefs with the world. He says I need to get ready for "The World of Work" but I'm not going to go get an office job as a Receptionist or Nurse like the stereotypical society want me too, I want to be an Author or Actress or Wildlife Researcher or just share my feelings with the world through Radio or TV but my dad says that these people are "messing about" and "need to get real jobs" I just want to be my own person and do something I enjoy and not be forced to get Summer Jobs when I DON'T WANT TO. How do I get him to understand I'm serious about the Radio DJ thing?!

Just don't seem to care anymore?
I have not always been like this. In grade 9,10,11 my grades started to drop, drooped guitar lessons, stooped playing at a high level of soccer, anti-social,don't care about impressing girls or don't care about talking to them. Starting to drift away from friends. Only thing i find joy in his my family. I know i need to change but i just can't get motivated and have fun anymore. There is so many things i want to do before i graduate and it looks like i will not be doing anything. I don't even of my L and i could have my N in 1 mouth, don't care about getting my license. I just don't know whats wrong with me. I was not always like this. What do you guys recommend. Don't say therapy. The only thing i really got right now is family and i don't want to scare them.

How much time does it take to be a good guitarrist?
I know this question doesn't have an answer, but I think everyone has an opinion supported by facts. Im considering taking guitar lessons, but I admit Im kind of lazy. However, Im REALLY willing to put everything of myself, and practice at least 1 hour a day, everyday. Taking one lesson a week, and practicing 1 hour everyday, in how much time will I be able to play guitar well (Im NOT trying to be Slash in a few months or so) ? I want to be able to play rock songs, like ACDC, Guns N roses, Metallica, Van halen, Led Zeppelin, that kind of thing. I just need some motivation, and it would be good if some teachers or musicians out there could help me with this matter. I hope you understand what Im trying to say, since my english is not so well. Thank you.
