If you are a beginner in learning guitar, the lessons that will be useful for you are the guitar chords lessons. You will need to learn what the basic chords are and how to hold them. This article will give you the brief information on the guitar chords.
What are guitar chords?
They are a combination of notes which makes a particular sound when you play a guitar. On your left hand, if you are right-handed, you position your fingers on the neck of the guitar. On your right hand, you strum. You will produce the right noise that you can sing along.
How many chords are there in a song?
That depends. One song can have as many as twenty something chords while another may have just two chords. That also depends on the length of the song. If the song is very long, it would be boring if the guitarist has to play only two chords.
Normally, the standard number of chords that the beginner uses in a song is around 6-8 chords. You don't have to remember all the chords. Only a few of the chords that we have to remember, the rest of them can be seen in the guitar chords chart.
What are the chords that I have to learn?
That depends on your playing style and the songs you play. When I started playing guitar, I just used only 4 chords including: C Am F G7. After playing the same songs for awhile, I added the next chords group including F Bm G D7. Then I moved on to the next group of songs.
Actually, they are the same chords. They are just placed on the different fret of the guitar. That's why they produce different noise.
