Can I use a classical guitar to take acoustic guitar lessons?
Hopefully guitargadfly will be able to give me some advice here...
I have been interested in learning the guitar for a few years now. I have finally made the effort to enrol on a guitar course at my local arts centre. My real love is the classical guitar, as I love spanish, mexican and other latin guitar sounds and I listen to older and modern guitar music often.
But the course I am booked on is an acoustic guitar course not a classical one. I still want to learn to play some pop or rock melodies so I figure any lesson on the basics would be good.
I need to buy a guitar for the course, having borrowed guitars while I learn some stuff on my own to see if I am indeed interested in really learning before i invested the time and money on a guitar and lessons.
I want to get a guitar that I can learn on easy and that will give me the option of playing both classical and pop/rock songs... do i get a classical?
Do you think I can do the acoustic course with a classical guitar?

After taking 10 acoustic guitar lessons, what's next for me?
I've since taken 10 lessons. I just feel there's so much to learn, but I can't figure out where to go now. Do I need to take more live guitar lessons? Do I need to just focus on learning more songs? How about technique? I've got a few notes down. I'm still working my way with "Wish you were here" and "House of the rising sun". I thought I'd enjoy using whatever resources are online, but I'm finding it's not making me grow as much as my structured guitar lessons. Any suggestions? As a side note, I'm thinking of getting jamorama's acoustic guitar course. Is this recommended?

Should i switch my course of guitar learning?
Hey, i need advices. Currently, im learning classical guitar and it has been 1 and half years. But recently, i feel its a kind of a bore. Like most of the time i go for the class and play and play. I'm 19 and i somehow feel that im not moving....now im working on grade 2. My teacher said that once i can play classical i can play any type of guitar, but it will take me some time to finish this classical guitar course before i can move on, by the time i want to learn other styles, i may not have much time to learn. Secondly, i kinda like the acoustic style, i feel that it gives someone freedom to express their music. Thirdly, i have a big financial crisis, well, the guitar exams are very expensive, and everytime i proceed to the next level the exam fee is definitely gonna increase. So i think i would only be able to afford classes after my grade 2 or 3 exam. Honestly, i also feel that exams are only for those who wants to pursue music studies or those who wants to teach music in future. As for me i feel that i just want to learn and maybe perform. But my dad said that its such a waste if i dont take the exams, because i study something, and there's nothing to prove that i did study the guitar.
The above are my situations. But i just need to ask someone, should i continue studying the classical guitar and take exams. or should i continue classical guitar without taking exams and maybe learn acoustic on my own or should i just change and start all over with acoustic guitar course and if i do should i take exams in acoustic guitar? if anyone can help, please do i' ve been thinking alot, but i just dont know what to do.
