Actually, generally there are three varieties of guitars: the nylon-string acoustic guitar, the steel- string acoustic guitar and the electrical guitar. These types of guitars would have differing characteristics.

For novices, it really is far better to let them use the nylon-string acoustic guitars. Regarding younger children, a electrical guitar may additionally be heavier however they're quite a bit easier to learn. But when your child is keen on learning classical pieces, then using acoustic guitars is usually better.

If you think your child is bigger or smaller than children in the same age group, then it would be better to bring your child with you whenever you go shopping for guitars. As an example, with acoustic guitars, a 3 to 6 year old might deal with a half-size acoustic guitar. Whereas a youngster aged 12 years old may deal with the classical and concert guitar.

However the simplest test to verify if the guitar "suits" your child is in fact by holding it. Let your child sit down and rest the curve the guitar on his/her thigh. If she or he was able to strum and hold the neck of the guitar properly, then the type and model may be totally perfect.

Whenever buying guitars, its condition is very important. Nevertheless, there are usually various accessories that may be needed or might be purchased right away like gig bag, guitar strap, pick, guitar tuner and extra strings.

For your child to totally embrace and practice playing the guitar, then you would need to make sure that she is prepared by going to lessons. Having guitar lessons is an additional investment. What paint to use to paint my acoustic guitar?
So my friend bought this 1/2 sized acoustic guitar a few months ago just for novelty. By this time all the strings are broken and the tuning pegs are gone. He was about to throw it away. I asked for it since I want to paint it then hang it in my room. I thought of some design ideas already, but I still don't know what kind of paint to use. Since this is just for display, I don't mind if the paint will ruin the tone.

What age range for 1/2 size guitars?
I have a daughter who's turning 8. Would she need a 1/2 or 3/4 size guitar. The 1/2 size acoustic guitars look tiny, but is it possible for a guitar to be too small to play? She is only a beginner. I'm hoping it will last at least a year and a half to two years and then she can upgrade. She's about 4'5" or so if that makes a difference. Thanks.
